Description
Project overview
- Design and develop an automatic machine capable of untwisting (left-right rotation) and straightening twisted conductive wires.
- Aim to produce a functional prototype with validated performance for cycle time, repeatability, and straightening quality.
- Duration: 06 Months. Number of Interns: 02 Interns.
Main tasks and deliverables
- Complete mechanical design of the system including guiding, driving, holding, and straightening mechanisms.
- 3D modeling and sizing of mechanical and electromechanical components using SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
- Programming of the automatic cycle covering time management, left/right rotation control, safety interlocks and emergency stop.
- Development of a functional prototype and experimental validation (measure cycle time, repeatability, and straightening quality).
Required skills and technologies
- Mechanical design experience (SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor) and component sizing.
- Industrial automation skills: PLC, API, or microcontroller programming for motion and sequence control.
- Knowledge of sensors, kinematics, and machine safety (safety circuits, emergency stop implementation).
Experimental validation and performance targets
- Implement test plans to evaluate cycle time, repeatability, and straightening quality under representative conditions.
- Data collection and analysis to quantify improvements and identify design iterations.
- Ensure safety validation and reliable emergency-stop behavior during tests.
