Description

Project overview

  • Develop a Business Workflow Orchestration System based on Camunda BPM to model, execute and monitor enterprise processes.
  • Integrate AI capabilities for process prediction and adaptive decision-making to improve process reliability and performance.

Objectives & main tasks

  • Design and implement workflow definitions and orchestration logic using Camunda BPM and Spring Boot.
  • Implement backend services in Java to interact with the workflow engine, manage process instances and expose APIs for the front-end.
  • Develop mechanisms for process prediction and adaptation: collect runtime data, train/predict with AI models, and trigger adaptive workflow changes.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers to provide Angular-based user interfaces for process monitoring, dashboards and manual task handling.

Technologies & expected skills

  • Core technologies: Camunda BPM, Spring Boot, Java for backend development and Angular for the user interface.
  • Skills in process modelling, REST API design, integration of AI components (prediction models) and handling process events for adaptation.
  • Familiarity with data collection for ML, model evaluation, and embedding prediction outputs into runtime orchestration decisions.

Deliverables & learning outcomes

  • A working prototype of a Camunda-based orchestration platform enhanced with AI-driven prediction and adaptation mechanisms.
  • Documentation of architecture, APIs, process models, and guidelines to extend prediction/adaptation modules.
  • Experience in combining BPM, backend engineering and applied AI to solve real-world process automation problems.
