Project: XR Cooperative Experience – “Chronicles of the Lost Mind”. Project Code: 05 10.
A two-player asymmetric Extended Reality (XR) experience combining real-world communication and virtual exploration, focused on Tunisia’s mythical and historical worlds.
Detailed Features
Asymmetric Gameplay: two connected roles — the Headset Player explores a dynamic virtual world while the Manual Player interprets clues from a physical manual and guides them via voice.
Cultural Storytelling: missions are inspired by Tunisian heritage, including “Escape the Jam” (lion’s lair beneath the Medina), “Code of Carthage” (decrypt ancient runes), and “Bey’s Secret Chamber” (mechanical puzzles revealing royal secrets).
Gameplay Mechanics & Scoring
Real-time Scoring: success depends on teamwork, precise verbal descriptions, decoding symbols, and synchronized actions under time pressure.
Interaction Flow: the Manual Player reads coded instructions and clues; the Headset Player executes actions in the XR environment based on that guidance — emphasizing timing, trust, and coordination.
Intern Responsibilities
Design & Implementation: assist in designing puzzles, encoding/decrypting systems, and implementing XR interactions for the Headset Player.
Playtesting & Balancing: run playtests to evaluate communication flows, timing constraints, score mechanics, and cultural storytelling fidelity.
Technical & Collaborative Expectations
Collaboration: work closely with designers, narrative writers, and developers to ensure the manual, voice communication, and virtual environment are tightly integrated.
Technical tasks: prototype XR scenes, integrate scoring systems, and iterate on puzzles and clue representation for both players.
