Overview

  • Project: Legends of Tunisian Duels – XR PVP Experience (Project Code: 04 09).
  • A Mixed Reality (XR) player-versus-player experience where two users face each other in interactive Tunisian-themed duels.
  • The system uses real-time hand and body tracking to detect throws, dodges, and shield movements and focuses on mixed-reality integration and physical interaction.

Key Features & Goals

  • Multi-Mode Duel System: three switchable duel modes (Market Mayhem, Ancient Siege, Village Duel) each with unique weapons, visuals, and physics behavior.
  • Gesture-Based Combat: real-time hand and body tracking drives throwing, blocking, and dodging mechanics.
  • Multiplayer & Collaboration: shared virtual space where teamwork is essential to solve puzzles and uncover clues.
  • Real-Time Scoring: scoring based on successful attacks, defense combos, survival, ending by score or knockout.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Implement and refine hand/body tracking pipelines to reliably detect throws, dodges, and shield movements in real time.
  • Develop and balance the three duel modes (weapons, physics parameters, environment-specific mechanics).
  • Integrate multiplayer networking, synchronization of gestures, scoring, and puzzle/collaboration systems.
  • Design and iterate on gameplay balance, collision/physics tuning, and user feedback (VFX/SFX/UX) for immersive mixed-reality duels.
  • Test, profile, and optimize performance for target XR hardware and document design/technical decisions.

Technical Requirements & Recommended Skills

  • Experience with XR development (Unity or Unreal Engine) and XR SDKs (OpenXR, XR Interaction Toolkit or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with hand and body tracking technologies (e.g., OpenCV/MediaPipe, depth sensors, vendor SDKs) and gesture recognition pipelines.
  • Networking experience for real-time multiplayer (Photon, Mirror, or engine-native solutions) and experience with real-time scoring systems.
  • Programming skills in C# or C++, knowledge of physics/rigidbody tuning, and experience with performance optimization for XR.

Deliverables & Learning Outcomes

  • A functional XR PVP prototype supporting two players, three duel modes, gesture-driven combat, multiplayer sync, and real-time scoring.
  • Documentation of tracking algorithms, network architecture, tuning parameters, and a short playtest report with balance recommendations.
  • Hands-on experience in mixed-reality integration, gesture-based interaction design, and multiplayer game systems.
